Our History
2018 - The beginning
The Griffish Isles was founded in 2018 by our beloved Hypnohooves. It was a single day event held at the St Thomas Centre in Manchester, and at the Powerleauge sports venue in the evening. Elley-Ray (the voice of Mistmane) was our special in-person guest, along with Lee Tockar (voice of Snips, Steven Magnet and Gummy to name a few) who joined us over a video link.

2019 - Dragons
GI returns for a second year, and this time with a theme: Dragons! This was reflected in this year's special guests: Ali Milner (the voice of Dragonlord Ember) who joined us via a video link. Lee Tockar was back for a second year, and this time as an in-person guest!

2021 - Magic
Due to unfortunate circumstances (the pandemic) GI 2020 never took place. This carried over into 2021 so we didn't have our usual event in May, however we couldn't wait until 2022 so we held the convention in November! We had also outgrown our venue and moved to the Pendulum Hotel down the road.
Our theme (magic) was chosen in 2019, but seemed to fit the recent release of the new Generation 5 movie. This year's special gest Ian Hanlin (voice of Sunburst) joined us over the internet for a Q&A on Saturday and Script reading on Sunday!
That's right, the Griffish Isles is now a two day convention!

2022 - Friends From Afar
After only six months, the Griffish Isles is back again! We have returned to our traditional month of May and back at the Pendulum hotel. Our special guest Katrina Salisbury (voice of best yak Yona) joins us for this year's theme of "Friends From Afar" as we celebrate all the friends we've made in all corners of Equestria.

2023 - Back to the 80s
We're taking you back 80s with our theme this year, as we mark the 40th anniversary of My Little Pony! We also welcomed Nicole Oliver, the voice actress who plays Princess Celestia!

2024 - Above the Clouds
In previous years we've only had guests as voice actors from the show, but this year we also have guests from the fan community itself! Laura Kay from Manchester and Nugget from the US joined us along with G.M Berrow (a story editor and head writer of the generation 5 series My Little Pony: Make Your Mark). Our theme this year was Above the Clouds, which brought about some fun events such as Flappy Dash where you can fly a Helium filled Rainbow Dash air ship through hoops! (thanks to poneSoph)

2025 - Beneath The Waves
After spending last year above the clouds, we decided to spend this year beneath the waves! Our special guest Marÿke Hendrikse (voice of Gilda the Griffon) joined us along with two community guests Laura Kay (again!) and Dr Pony.

2026 - Into the Future
Can you believe that the Griffish Isles has been running for eight years‽ It has grown a lot since 2018, and will hopefully continue to do so! Our theme for this year is Into the Future where we talk about future Twilight and Dr Whooves. Rather appropriately our special guest this year is Peter New (voice of Dr Whooves!).
